Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation® (LVR®) with Designer Laser Vaginoplasty® (DLV®) Combination

Welcome to your guide to Combination of Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation® (LVR®) with Designer Laser Vaginoplasty® (DLV®) sometimes referred to vaginal rejuvenation in the media. Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the procedure and what you can do to ensure a result you will love. Remember, this presentation does not take the place of your consultation and you should make sure to jot down any questions you may want to ask us later.
LVR® and DLV® are frequently combined at the same time. The most frequently combined procedures are Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation and laser reduction Labiaplasty of the labia minora. Many women seek Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation® because they want to enhance or improve sexual gratification and aesthetically enhance certain areas of the vulvar structures such as large or protruding labia minora. Patients who suffer from stress urinary incontinence (involuntary loss of urine with laughing, coughing, sneezing, exercising etc.) can also have this condition treated at the same time as the LVR®  procedure.

Women who have had children want a solution to rejuvenate the vagina and achieve the best sexual experience possible. For women with no children, solutions are available through design modification to accomplish their desires.

In vaginal relaxation, the muscles are relaxed and have poor tone, strength, and control. The internal and external diameters increase. The muscles of the perineum are weak and poorly supported. Under these circumstances, the vagina is no longer at its optimum physiological state. As a result, the sensual side of sexual gratification is diminished.
Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation® will effectively enhance vaginal muscle tone, strength, and control. It will also effectively decrease the internal and external vaginal diameters as well as build up and strengthen the perineal body. Sexual gratification is directly related to the amount of frictional forces generated. LVR®  can accomplish this. LVR® techniques result in gentle precision cutting with controlled accuracy that results in relatively bloodless surgery. LVR® pioneered techniques result in rapid healing and resumption of daily activities in a short period of time. The information on the specific DLV® procedures that you are interested in can be viewed under their respective information modules.
The best candidate for this procedure is a physically healthy woman with realistic goals.

Procedure
What happens during the procedure?
Typically performed on an outpatient basis under local with pudendal block (nerve block to numb the entire vagina and vulva), IV sedation with pudendal, twilight with pudendal, epidural, and general anesthesia, LVR® combined DLV® can last between 90 minutes to 3 hours depending on the extent of the vaginal relaxation and whether both the top (anterior) and bottom (posterior) walls/muscles are treated and the nature of the DLV® procedure.

First a pudendal block is given to provide 18-24 hours post operative pain control anesthesia. Then using a mixture of local anesthetics and adrenaline, a special solution called tumescent fluid is created. This solution is injected into the anterior and posterior vaginal walls to assist in the bloodless LVR®technique. A special laser is used to perform the “proprietary” LVR® technique. The laser is used to do all the cutting and dissecting. Sutures are used to tighten the muscles of the upper/anterior (if required), lower/posterior and perineum according to the specifications and desires of the patient. After completion of this the DLV®  procedure is performed. Upon completion of the LVR®/DLV® procedures, a vaginal pack is placed and then you are transferred to the recovery room. The recovery period is usually 1 to 2 hours and then you are released into the custody of an adult and you can go home.

Preparation
Some suggestions to help you prepare for surgery.
During you consultation you should be very open; provide all of your medical history and list all of the medications, vitamins, and herbs you are taking (even if you don’t think they’re important).
Here are some tips that may help you shorten your recovery time and decrease your chances of complications.
  • Discontinue using Aspirin (including medications that contain Aspirin), Ibuprofen, Naprosyn, St. John’s Wort, Vitamin E and other supplements as directed.  These act as blood thinners and could cause excessive bruising, bleeding or other complications. We will give you a complete list of medications and herbal supplements to avoid prior to your procedure.
  • Stop smoking for at least two weeks before and one week after surgery, as nicotine can impair circulation and healing.
  • Don’t drink alcohol in excess for two week before your Liposculpturing procedure and one week after the surgery.
  • Drink lots of water in the days leading up to your LVR® procedure.
To make your recovery easier and more comfortable be sure to:
  • Arrange for someone to take you home and take care of you for at least the first day. For out of town, national and international patients, private nursing care, private recovery centers and hotel accommodators can be made through our office.
Fill your prescriptions and place them within easy reach of where you well be resting.

Post Surgery
You should expect some bruising, swelling and pain after your procedure. You will have a vaginal pact which will be noticed as a white gauze outside the opening of the vagina. It is to be removed the morning following surgery (instructions will be given). Swelling may linger for as long as two to four weeks. Pain medication will be prescribed to control any discomfort, however, if you begin to have severe pain, contact us immediately. Note that the pain medications can cause constipation (it is the most common complaint) and you should use a stool softener such as colace, drink plenty of fluids, and eat fruits and vegetables to help to keep the stools soft. Apply ice packs to the perineum and vulvar structures that were treated, off and on for the first 48 hours to minimize swelling. If patients have hemorrhoids they can on rare occasions see a post surgical flair up. If this happens you will be provided with medications for treatment. The hemorrhoid or peri-anal swelling condition will resolve in ten to fourteen days. Make sure that you take all medications as prescribed.
The recovery process is different for everyone, but within a day after your LVR®, you should be up and walking around. You may shower on the second or third day following surgery. No tube baths for four weeks. Refrain from thong underwear and tight fitting clothing for four weeks. You may need to be out of work and away from your usual activities for the first week. Over the next two or three weeks your treated areas may remain very sensitive and strenuous physical activities should be limited. Following this period you may gradually return to activities such or lifting, and light exercise. Avoid any high impact activities for about one month. In particular you should avoid jogging and bouncing activities for up to six weeks. These procedures will help you avoid stress to your treated areas and allow time to heal and recover. Sex may be resumed in six weeks.
